Revisly Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes what information Revisly collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Please read it alongside our Terms of Service.
1. Who We Are
This Privacy Policy explains how Revisly ("we," "us," or the "App") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the App. It is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Service. If you do not agree with this Policy, do not use the App.
2. Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: email address, display name, and password (or guest mode, which does not require an email).
- Study content: notes, flashcards, questions you create or answer, text and images you submit to the AI tutor, and audio recordings you make for note generation.
- Photos and documents: images you choose to import from your photo library or scan, for the sole purpose of extracting study content.
- Support communications: anything you send us directly, e.g. by email.
- Website beta sign-up: if you enter your email on revisly.com to request a beta invite, we use it only to send you the TestFlight link and to follow up about the beta. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
3. Information Collected Automatically
- Study activity: session length, questions answered, accuracy, streaks, and points — stored locally on your device to power your progress, streaks, and leaderboard stats.
- App usage on apps you choose to block: if you enable the optional App Blocking feature, the App uses Apple's Screen Time / Family Controls framework to measure real usage time on the specific apps and categories YOU select, solely to determine when to apply or lift the block. We do not receive a list of all apps on your device, browsing history, or usage of apps you have not selected.
- Device/diagnostic data: basic technical information (device type, OS version, crash logs) if generated by standard iOS crash reporting.
4. Microphone, Camera, Speech Recognition & Photos
The App requests the following device permissions, each used only for the stated purpose and only when you actively choose to use the related feature:
- Microphone: to record lectures or meetings you choose to record, so the App can generate study notes from them.
- Speech Recognition: to transcribe your recordings into text for note generation. Transcription may be processed on-device or via Apple's speech recognition service depending on iOS settings.
- Camera: to photograph equations, problems, or notes you choose to capture for the AI tutor.
- Photo Library: to import images you choose to select for the AI tutor or note generation.
We do not access the microphone, camera, or photo library in the background, and we do not collect this data unless you actively initiate a recording, photo capture, or import.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App's core features (AI tutoring, note generation, flashcards, screen-time rewards, leaderboard).
- Generate AI responses, practice questions, and notes by sending the relevant text, transcribed audio, or images to our third-party AI provider (see Section 6).
- Operate the optional App Blocking feature as described in Section 3.
- During the private beta described in our Terms of Service, improve the quality, accuracy, and reliability of the App and its AI-generated content.
- Maintain the security and integrity of the App and prevent abuse.
- Respond to support requests you send us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your study data to serve you third-party advertising.
6. Third-Party Services We Use
- Google (Gemini AI): study content you submit (questions, notes text, transcribed audio, images) is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate AI responses, practice questions, and structured notes. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's own privacy policy and API terms.
- Apple: Screen Time / Family Controls (for App Blocking), Speech Recognition, and standard iOS/App Store services, governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- Supabase: used for backend data storage and, where applicable, account authentication. Supabase's handling of this data is governed by Supabase's own privacy policy.
We require that any third-party service we use only process your data for the purpose of providing the App's features — not for their own independent marketing.
7. Data Storage & Retention
Most study progress (streaks, points, earned time, daily stats) is stored locally on your device using standard iOS storage and is not automatically synced to our servers unless a specific feature (e.g. account sign-in) requires it. Account information and any data stored via Supabase is retained for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (Section 9).
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users between 13 and 18 should have a parent or legal guardian review this Policy and our Terms of Service before use, consistent with the eligibility requirements in our Terms of Service. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete it promptly — contact us at shrimannk0928@gmail.com to request this.
9. Your Choices & Rights
- You can decline camera, microphone, speech recognition, or photo library permissions — the related features simply won't be available, and the rest of the App continues to work normally.
- You can disable App Blocking at any time from within the App, which stops all Screen Time usage monitoring immediately.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data by contacting shrimannk0928@gmail.com.
- Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, delete, or port your data, and to opt out of certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
10. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential.
11. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our third-party service providers (including Google and Supabase) operate, which may have different data protection laws than your own country.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the updated date above and, where practicable, notified in-app. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
